I have worked in the film industry for over 15 years. Throughout that time, I was a lighter. My official title was Lighting Technical Director, or Lighting TD. I would work with teams ranging from 3 to 23 artists on a film. I moved from project to project, and some times that would lead me to working at different studios and in different countries. There were some projects where I was a lead and would help setup sequences for the team to work on. I enjoyed being a lead, as well as being one of the lighters in a team.
Films that I have worked on include: Happy Feet, Iron Man, Star Trek, Life of Pi, Pacific Rim, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Star Wars: Force Awakens, Rogue One, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. (demo reel)
Currently, I am working on my own artwork. Throughout my time as a visual effects lighter, I would continue to take photos and work on my dot art. I find it funny that I really enjoy working on dot art when during the time I was as lighter, working on a computer, I would work closely with pixels (dots for film). So I haven’t moved too far away from what I was doing at the studios.
